May 2023 Greeting from MASFMA President
Happy May, MASFMA!
Well, I had planned on talking about how dry the month of April was, but this past weekend helped to end that talk, which is a very good thing.
Your Board of Directors has been working hard on getting all the logistics worked out for our MASFMA Field Day coming up on June 21st. Please hit up the website and register - it will be great! We are doing our first corn hole tournament… with prizes and of course, always looking forward to seeing our sponsors in action. Special thanks to C.J. Lauer for hosting the event at The Saint Paul's School located at 11152 Falls Road Brooklandville, MD 21022. Hope to see you there!
With the early jump on bermudagrass, I plan on fertilizing around mid-May and encourage anyone with Bermuda to do the same if you have not already. I personally waited since I had a feeling that we may get some colder weather at the end of April and the start of May. Go figure! For all of the cool season Sports Field Grounds Keepers, these past two weeks have been perfect. With the nice cool mornings and finally some rain, I bet that your turf is growing like crazy now.
I hope everyone enjoys Cinco De Mayo (responsibly) and Happy Mother’s Day on May 14th and EVERYDAY!
“Stay hard”- David Goggins
Thank you,
