February Greeting from MASTMA President
Dear MASTMA,
In January your Board of Directors dove into their roles and were appointed committees. I encourage you, as MASTMA members to step up your game and get involved. If you see a committee below that interests you, please reach out to the specific committee chair; I have no doubt that they would appreciate your interest and contribution. We all have so many ideas to help make MASTMA the best that it can be.

While we are all hoping to have an in-person event sooner than later, in the meantime, take advantage of the irrigation webinars online that are free for MASTMA members and just $10.00 for non-members. Pay it forward by sharing the invitation with your colleagues and friends who may benefit.
We received great feedback and suggestions from the survey regarding topics of interest that was sent a few weeks ago – thank you for your time in sharing your input with us. Based on your feedback, the Education Committee is hard at work organizing our MASTMA Annual Spring Education Event scheduled for Thursday, March 4th, which will offer recertification credits for DC, DE, MD, and VA. Due to continued meeting restrictions as a result of the pandemic, the event will be virtual. Please stay tuned for registration details.
The Best Management Practices Manual is in its final edit phase and I for one cannot wait to share this document with all of you. The BMP will be extremely beneficial as there are a number of bills being introduced that impact our industry. This document will help educate the public about our role as stewards of the environment.
As stated in my last email, I encourage you to participate in the MVP of the DMV program. What better way to celebrate the hard work and dedication of yourself and/or your staff? You deserve this!
Please join me and the amazing turfgrass coach, MASTMA Board Member Geoffrey Rinehart, in congratulating the 2 and 4-year turfgrass students at the University of Maryland who earned 1st and 2nd place in the 2021 STMA Student Challenge competition. Way to go, Turf Terps!!! Each have earned complimentary student MASTMA memberships and will be highlighted during the upcoming MASTMA Spring Education Event on March 4th.
