Introducing MASTMA's BMP!
Dear MASTMA Members,
On the wings of STMA announcing the national BMP template yesterday in celebration of Earth Day, I am proud to FINALLY introduce and share with you the MASTMA BMP. The MASTMA BMP was designed specifically for the Mid-Atlantic region and can be used for educational, government, and employment purposes. The MASTMA BMP:
- Reinforces that we are educated and highly trained professionals that make decisions based on scientific fact and experience
- Counters proposed legislation that will limit what we can use to effectively and successfully perform our jobs
- Recognizes the Sports Turf Management Industry professionals as stewards of the environment by spelling out to organizations, communities, and state officials exactly how we operate in a clear transparent manner
- Serves as the basis for how professionals conduct themselves in accordance with state/local regulations and a resource available for other STMA Chapters
- Highlights industry specific practices that ensure the safety of the community and environment remain the top priority in our line of work. It is our hope the MASTMA BMP will become the template for other organizations and Sports Turf Managers nationwide
I would like to personally thank those who served on the MASTMA BMP Committee for their dedication, hard work, and perseverance: Patrick Coakley (Committee Chair), Nicole Andrews, Jason Bowers, and Scott Orndorff.
On behalf of the MASTMA BMP Committee, I welcome you to utilize the MASTMA BMP in the way you deem fit. I also encourage you to register to attend the MASTMA Field Day on June 17th to learn more about our BMP and how you can apply it. I appreciate your patience leading up to today; I am incredibly proud of the work that went in to developing the MASTMA BMP!
Sincerely,
Nicole Sherry
