August Greeting from MASTMA President
Dear MASTMA Members,
August 19th is two weeks away! The MASTMA BMP Workshop dedicated to Sports Turf Managers will be led by presenters, Geoffrey Rinehart and John Emerson, who will discuss the Best Management Practices Manual and how best to utilize its content in the field. Recertification credits are approved for CSFM, Delaware, and Maryland. Registration is open and free for all MASTMA Members (space is limited to 50 attendees). If you haven’t yet ordered your MASTMA BMP Book for the promotional rate of $20.21 (free shipping), they will be available for sale at the Workshop.
There are several great positions posted throughout our Mid-Atlantic region. These positions are located under the job listings tab on the MASTMA website. It’s good to get your head out of the sand (or in our case, dirt) and take a look around from time to time. :)
The school year is knocking on our front door! Please spread the word to students studying turf management/science that they can join MASTMA free of charge. What a great way to begin a career in our industry with a network of professionals and job opportunities! Interested students can email [email protected] to join.
Speaking of opportunities, in September MASTMA will be hosting a Professional Development Webinar Series (Resume/LinkedIn, Interview, Negotiating, Networking) with Glori Hyman of the University of Maryland. You are welcome to join one, two, three, or all four webinars and learn skills that can propel your career forward. Please stay tuned for dates and additional details.
The MASTMA Board of Directors continues to look for ways to engage you, our members. During the last Board meeting, the Directors reviewed and discussed the results of the MASTMA Field Day Survey; thank you to those who took a minute to share your feedback. As a result, the Board will focus on providing the following:
- In-person Networking Events
- Educational Content as related to our Industry
- Hands-on Equipment Demonstrations
Have a great August, everyone!
Sincerely,
Nicole Sherry
