    November Greeting from MASTMA President

Greetings and Happy November, MASTMA Members!

The month of October was productively busy:

    1. MASTMA wrapped up our Professional Development Webinar Series featuring Glori Hyman, Director of the Institute of Applied Agriculture at the University of Maryland. Many thanks to Glori and UMD for continuing to partner with and support MASTMA!

    2. The MASTMA Board of Directors hosted a Sponsor Appreciation Event where our amazing sponsors enjoyed batting practice and dinner at Prince George’s Stadium, home of the Bowie Baysox.

    3. The MASTMA Board of Directors hired Z+C, LLC to lead our lobbying efforts to support the MASTMA BMP during the 2022 legislative session. Z+C’s team of professionals bring a depth of industry knowledge and a unique appreciation for the increasingly important intersection between policy and purpose that informs so much state and local decision-making today. MASTMA will finally have a seat at the table to educate policy makers about specific practices regarding safe playability and the environment all while highlighting the professionalism of our educated and highly trained membership whose practices are grounded in science and experience.

As we dive into November, MASTMA officially kicks off our first Scholarship Fund with applications due by December 31st. The application can be found on our homepage. Please spread the word to turf grass students throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

Don’t forget that MASTMA DMV MVP applications are due by December 1st! The goal of the DMV MVP Award is to recognize the facilities that have been dedicated to providing safe, playable conditions for their users regardless of the level of play. The winner will receive a field banner, press coverage, and a lunch for their crew. To submit your application, please use this link.

In the meantime, I hope to see you at a future event whether at MTC in December and/or the MASTMA Social at the STMA Conference in January!

Last, but not least, if you haven’t already, please click here to renew your MASTMA membership for 2022~

    Sincerely,

    Nicole Sherry
